This trek passes through the Vilcanota mountain range. The Andean ridge is the principal in the American continent and the longest in the world. Ausangate mountain (6,385 m / 21262 ft) and others tower over 6000 m / 20,0000 ft. Ausangate is worshipped throughout the Cusco region as one of the most important Apu (spirit). We will see hot springs, lakes, glaciers, herds of llamas and alpacas, Vicuņas, Andean fox, birds like Andean gulls and Condors, picturesque villages and traditionally dressed highland people, dwelling in the cold Punas practicing still our ancient traditions of farming fields and breeding Andean cattle.

[Day 1]: Cusco to Tinky - We ride southwards about 7 Hours by bus, visiting some traditional towns on the route like Urcos, Huancarany, Ccaqca. etc. Our final stop will be Ocongate village where you can purchase local goods, then we'll continue to Tinky (3800 m / 6265 ft), where we camp.

[Day 2]: Upis - After breakfast we start trekking towards the community of Q'otamuro and then continue across the wide open places, meeting herders and weavers with their crafts on sale, with the giant Ausangate mountain in the background. We will arrive, after walking 8 kms, at Upis (4390 m / 14619 ft) where we will camp.

[Day 3]: Pucaqocha - The trail goes up in a gentle climb. We have to ascend 800 m. up until the Arapa pass (4865 m). Then we descend until Pucaqocha lake (4550 m / 15152 ft) after walking 7 km, Where we camp, enjoying the view of the majestic Ausangate and Surimna mountain. This day is considered as the hardest day in the trek.

[Day 4]: Wanuwanu - This is an easy day - we ascend until 4640 m. (Alkatany pass) enjoying the incomparable panoramic of the Andes. Continuing, we start an up hill walking to the Palomani pass at 5050 m. (16564 ft). Then we descend to Chillca Pynaya valley at 4400 m. (14432 ft), where we will see grazing Alpacas, and llamas. We can also see the natural reserve of "Huallatas". We camp here.

[Day 5]: Phaqchanta - The trek this day is relatively easy, with the bulk continuing around 4500 m, enjoying a spectacular view of Lake Qomercocha and Lake Jawancocha. After experiencing the presence of Vicuņa, Vizcacha and possibly condors, then we'll arrive at the camp in 5 hours, where we find natural medicinal hot springs.

[Day 6]: Tinky - This is our last day at the Ausangate Mountain. We trek for around 3 hours, crossing the vast hills and fields that are occupied by local peasants, until we reach Tinky, where we will make a Pachamnaca (traditional food) and you can buy a soda or beer. We camp here at 3800 m / 6265 ft.

[Day 7]: Cusco - We return to Cusco by bus, passing traditional villages along the way.
