Sacred Valley Mountain Trek
5 days / 4 nights (T05PA7)

This is our new route through the Andes rugged mountain range with exceptional views of snow capped peaks and glacial lakes, where you will visit family homes and see the Quechua way of life with charming communities. We’ll admire their weavings and observe their methods of agricultural production. We’ll head into some remote areas where we may see isolated small herds of Llamas and Alpacas roaming amid a patchwork of small cultivated fields while hiking along a ridge overlooking the Andean fertile valleys.

[Day 1]: Champaqocha - We leave from Cusco heading towards Yanawara village (2850 m) by bus (2 hours). Then we meet our horsemen and horses to start a gentle climb, enjoying the fascinating view of the area. In the afternoon we arrive at the nice turquoise lake Champaqocha (3600 m / 11988 ft) where we camp.

[Day 2]: Wacawasi - Leaving the lagoon, our trail gradually ascends to an area of high mountain reaching the Saclloqasa pass (4560 m / 15185 ft). On the way we enjoy stunning views of the highest snow capped peaks in the Urubamba range. From the pass the rocky trail leads us through high forest and valleys until Wacawasi community (4200 m / 13986 ft), where we camp.

[Day 3]: Cuncany - Following the course of Cuncany river our destination is the native community (4100 m) with the same name, arriving after 5 hours. Then we will have some experiences in the cultural interaction with the locals.

[Day 4]: Lares - We say goodbye to the community after breakfast, and we will follow the course of Wacawasy river for 3 hours towards Lares villages (3060 m / 10190 ft). We will enjoy a soak in the medicinal thermal springs, and make camp.

[Day 5]: Cusco - We still have the chance to take a bath in the hot springs, and then we will take our bus back to Cusco, driving for about 4 hours.
