We will visit the most important Inca cities of Saqsaywaman, Pisaq and Ollantaytambo. We will go to the Sacred Valley. On this tour we will explore the "Witches' Market" in Cusco and bargain over tapestries in Pisaq. This is an easy paced week long journey perfect for anyone with a sense of curiosity and adventure. [Day 1]: Arrive in Lima - Check in to your hotel. [Day 2]: Fly to Cusco - We will meet you when you arrive in the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Andean history comes alive in Cusco which is considered the Mecca of Peru. Quechua speaking descendants of the Incas fill the streets and markets. This beautiful colonial town offers much to the visitor with its nearby ruins, narrow cobblestone streets, museums and churches. In the afternoon we tour the Incas' most prominent sites around Cusco such as Saqsaywaman, Qenqo, Tambomachay, Pucapucara and Qoricancha, the most important Inca temple. [Day 3]: Andawaylilas – Tipom - We will leave the hotel around 7:00 am and drive towards Urcos and visit the colorful market to experience the traditional trading of goods. We will then visit the colonial church of Andawaylilas and then continue driving for 30 mn. to arrive at the Pikillaqta complex. We will continue our journey with our next destination being Tipon, with its impressive Inca water fountains. Later in the afternoon we will drive back to Cusco. [Day 4]: Moray - Salineras – Ollantaytambo - We will drive to the traditional village of Maras, then continue to the Inca agricultural experimentation village of Moray. After the included box lunch we return, driving to the salt mine. We will then walk down approximately 30 min. to see the salt mine pools. We will walk 1 hour more to the Sacred Valley. We will then meet our bus to go to the fortress of Ollantaytambo. We will overnight in the Sacred Valley. [Day 5]: Machu Picchu - After breakfast we travel by train for 2 hours to Aguas Calientes. We will then take the bus for approximately 25 min. to the archeological citadel of the lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu. We will tour the city for 2 hours. In the afternoon, we have free time to explore and then return to Aguas Calientes and overnight at the hotel. [Day 6]: Machu Picchu - Sacred Valley - Early in the morning we will leave by train to visit the Inca site of Ollantaytambo. We will then continue by bus to explore the archeological site and the traditional artesian market in the city of Pisaq. We will then drive back to Cusco. [Day 7]: Exploring Cusco - Wander the puma city and the heart of the Inca empire's cobbled narrow streets and experience the lives of the people of Inca descent. [Day 8]: Fly to Lima - Check in to your hotel. [Day 9]: Arrive in Lima - Fly home from Lima.
